Description:

The Malaysian-flag LIN PETALING was built in 1953 by Taikoo Dockyard & Engineering Co, Quarry Bay, Hong Kong, as one of a series of distinctive-looking, bridge-forward cargo/passenger ships for Straits Steamship Co, of Singapore.
Originally named PETALING, the 1,359 grt/935 dwt vessel had accommodation for 93 passengers.
When photographed in Singapore in July, 1985, Straits Steamship had just recently sold PETALING to Lin Lin Shipping Sendirian Berhad, of Labuan, Malaysia.
She was powered by an eight-cylinder Ruston + Hornsby 8VEBXM four-stroke diesel of 720 bhp, which gave her a ‘slow boat to China’ speed of just 9.5 knots.
She lasted just two years as LIN PETALING before being broken up in Singapore in May, 1987.
