The Port Elizabeth lighthouse is also known as "Donkin Lighthouse", "Hill Lighthouse" or South African "Donkin Hillvuurtoring". The white tower with a red lantern stands high up in the city in the Donkin Reserve park. The site for the lighthouse was provided in 1860 by Sir Rufane Donkin, the deputy governor of the Cape Colony.
