Description:

Although laying just outside a breaking yard north of Chittagong, this one looks more like a relic, almost as even the breakers have given up on this one...
The name...is still a mistery. It belonged to HRC shipping company of Bangladesh, and I would expect her name to start with "Banga", but I could not find anything on the vessel, and it was not for lack of trying...
So, any info welcome.

Edit: name found, thanks!

She had her last cargo "Cement", reported water damaged on board. Issue had been to Court/Admin which lasted for couple of years. Vessel now projected to be beached along with around 3000+ Tons damaged cargo. However she got broken off the beaching yard just 6 Miles off.

Thanks, Phil!

The confusion was obviously on my side. Banga Lanka was the first ship on my list of checking, but I guess I just dismissed the result after seeing one picture where the vessel was wrongly identified...

Phil, my posting of the Hodo was a confirmation not a sign of confusion. The Flensburg yard, who built the Hodo, produced two sisterships (Sittwe and Mawlamyine) for Burmese account which never changed names. (and apparently John had the better camera back in the days....)

Not sure why the confusion, Pieter. It's almost certainly the Bangla Lanka, originally Hodo.

But surely the poor thing is the Hodo

Interestingly, Phil, the same photo of the HODO is here, but now credited to a certain John Jones

Vlad, pretty sure this is BANGA LANKA (7707645) which was reported sold to Bangladesh breakers last September. In fact, I copped her many years ago when sailing under her original name HODO: http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=66023
