Hi tonebone,
I'd go for the meaning "helpless person" (Dictionary of Slang and Unconventional English) in contrast to the "Genius". But still, just guessing...
Cheers,
Jens

Simon meant 'god help us highway' for the clueless

Thanks for the link, Rick!

It really sheds some additional light on the accident. I see this weirdly abrupt starboard turn taken by MM, avoiding the head on collision but setting up a T-bone...

And I thought that GH was clearly the one to blame...

Thanks for the photo & link Vlad... both parties must have been asleep 'at the wheel'.
An AIS view of their tracks shows they had been in close proximity for some time, and were determined to collide with each other.
The tracks can be seen HERE and although looks confusing, the times to note are "2013-12-29 01:06" when both vessels attempt to avoid an almost head on collision.
Regards, Rick

Hm, I'd really like to help with the humorous sense of Simon's comment, but I'm clueless myself... :-D :-D

Good shot, Vlad!

Cheers,
Jens

Simon, I suspect your humour might well be lost here !!!

On the other topic of adverts, don't forget the first ship used for advertising was Brunel's famous Great Eastern used by Lewis's Departmnent Store on the Mersey from 1875 until her demolition at Rock Ferry in 1889. And don't forget part of the foremast was taken in 1906 to Liverpool's Anfield football ground where it still stands as a flagpole between the famous Kop and Kemlyn Road

Thanks for comments, Ozzy and Denis.

This idea about ads on ships was actually implemented some time ago, when coastal trading ships somewhere in Holland, if I remember right, were outfitted with proper full-size billboards for advertisments on their sides (apart from all the cargo they still carried). The idea, however, was short lived, for I never saw it since...

Unless they haven't painted it on yet, there's "Your ads here" is missing at sides.

Nice photo Vlad...When I saw this as a thumbnail..I thought it was some new massive twin hulled catarman for the oil trade ....again..Like that ship for disposing of oil rigs.

Thanks for the info and picture about Gravity Highway...indeed not a good start to her career.

Sure. She got involved in a nasty collision with a tanker "Maritime Maisie". This is how she appeared afterwards.

Care to share the story what you mean by "less fortunate" sister ship ?
