Latest information on this matter: the newspaper Faro de Vigo reports on 21/11/2018 that Metalships has signed a contract with a german owner to build a 137m length 17m. breadth sail cruise ship using the hull of the former Sea Cloud Husar
Information in Spanish here the construction period is 18 months

Hmm, Dutch yard? Interesting! Merwede finished the ROYAL CLIPPER back in 2000, but they are into offshore ships and dredgers now. On the other hand, Damen Schelde recently completed a full-rigger for Oman (SHABAB OMAN II), so they could do it.

Hi,you are right, the situation is confusing. The newspapers basically say that the ship belongs to Bankia, and that the shipyard required the slipway to be empty,so the ship will be towed to Vigo.On the other hand a spokesman of the trade unions said that the ship is already sold and will be finished in a Dutch yard.
But nothing is official

Yes, I was trying to read between the lines. Another article states that Bankia will auction the ship at a Dutch shipyard whilst in the same sentence saying that a buyer had already been found. All very confusing!

I'm not so sure Phil. If I read it correctly, the yard in Marin has been taken over by Nodosa, but the SEA CLOUD HUSSAR is owned by its creditor, Bankia. Bankia stipulated that the ship would be off the slipway and in its hands by June 30th. It is not specifically stated that Metalships will finish the vessel. Read here in another article:

Google doesn't translate this very well but it seems that METALSHIPS take over the failed contract:

Hi Victor, that is a VERY interesting development! Let's see if Metalships will finish her, or some other yard.
