Equasis show this vessel as having been broken up in August 2014

The funnel probably comes from the fact that they were built for a Blue Star charter and the funnel is more in keeping with the traditional old Blue Star liners.

@Becky
pure reefer ships like used years and years disappearing more and more. Most reefer ships nowadays have the cargo in container and therefore they are no reefer ships anymore. There will be always a need for pure reefers,,like transshipments at sea from fishing vessels ,hardly possible by containerships,,or some not so developed countries where reefer container not nescessarily easy to use because of lack of infrastructure and so on

Interesting Capt. Ted. Did all that cargo go to container reefers or did any significant % go to other carriers. I thinking 747

These type reefers were not that seldom,, the STINA I photographed 2-3 year back in Fort de France and another one at the PanCan.

I sailed 15 years of my masters life on conventional reefer ships in those days most probably the best time of my entire sea-time in retrospect. The downfall came when they started placing container on them and we even didn,t have the power to keep them proper running !!!!

Well i like reefers a lot and i know this one is a bit strange looking but i prefer seeing and photographing ships like this than Modern livestock carr... erm, sorry, i meant Modern Cruise Ships..... ;-)

The bare ass stern coupled and the relative big prow don't help either.

It's probably just me (again!) but the funnel does look strange there. Imagine it removed & I think a sense of normality would creep into the profile !
