Gentle men please can we cease this banal carry on, it is spoiling the great pleasure I get from Shipspotting.A site I have enjoyed since since 2002.

"Someone mentioned that the helicopter is the pilots. Where is the logo ?, I do not see it. How do I know that this helicopter is the pilot"

Carlos, if you look at it in full screen mode, the pilot winch is well visible on the right side of the helicopter, just under the main rotor.

Carlos - drop the subject now it's boring..

Carlos, for your information Derek IS the Manager....

Worst of all, the author of the photos is who goes and possibly delete my comments, and above the more we visit the more votes picture taken. In any case, who erases, it is a coward and dictator.

Strongly agree Derek, but where are the managers ?, as always, are conspicuous by their absence.

Hi All,

In my opinion this series of comments has now run its course, everybody seems to have expressed an opinion regarding should it be kept or not, but before it starts to degenerate into an unpleasant argument would you all please cease to post any more comments and let the Administration Team discuss in a reasoned manner taking the above coversations into account what to do regarding the deletion or keeping of the photos.
When a decision has been made I will post a comment in the forum as to what is to be done with them.
Thanking you all for your anticipated cooperation.

Thanks simonwp. Finally someone with consistency.

Someone mentioned that the helicopter is the pilots. Where is the logo ?, I do not see it. How do I know that this helicopter is the pilots ?.

Edit
comment

I think a criterion could be "obstruction". In this case the helicopter can easily be edited out without affecting the image of the ship. Therefore the helicopter is not obstructing, and IMHO the picture meets the standards.

I actually think Carlos and Captain Ted are right on this one......it's a great shot but it doesn't meet site standards, i.e. to me the helicopter is the main focus of the shot. Consistency is needed, otherwise members soon become unhappy. Personally i think the standards are too tight, and both Carlos shot and this should be allowed, but if you delete one then you delete both. Birds, pilot boats, tugs etc are all part of the marine environment, and provided they don't obscure the ship, or become the main focus should be allowed. It's nice to see good photographs of just the ship and nothing else, but it's also nice to see a bit of context as well. Unfortunately it's always down to individual administrators decisions, and, by nature, individuals are always subjective and inconsistent.

Why Carlos are you deleting and reposting the same article continously, must be for the 10th time now. I think most members are getting tired of this now.....

Edit
comment

person
Well said B.Clark. How many photos would be lost if we removed them because the pilot cutter was in shot? Pilot cutter/Pilot chopper...

Edit
comment

person
My photograph New Herald same case, but not pilot helicopter , and that is original, i am not waiting the moment..my brgds to All

Edit
comment

person
Surely no different than having a Pilot Vessel in the shot, just the 2016 method of doing things

Edit
comment

person
I think the photographer knew exactly what he was doing, with a TV priority and a slightly higher ISO value resulting in a sufficiently narrow aperture (f16) that both the ship and the chopper are in focus. Perfect shot therefore.

Edit
comment

person
I am interested in where the pilot would be landed, presumably by winch?

Edit
comment

person
Carlos in this case the helicopter was involved with the ship with dropping off a pilot so forms part of the main subject.I think its time to let your deleted photo issue rest I think everyone is getting a bit tired of it.

I like the photo, I like photos with birds or steel birds as long as they are eye catching as this one.

I agree with you,Michael.

Truely a great shot!

Focus on the chopper ... Ok

But there is not a shadow of a doubt that the ship (and shipping) is the main subject of the picture.

And the ship is not that much out of focus if at all.

Deleting such a picture would simply be a loss to the site and the opposite of maintaining standards.

Best regards,

Michael.

It is a splendid pictures but as we saw last with the seagull,,this one should be deleted,, total focus is the chopper and not the ship.

Great shot. Hope it stays :-)

Edit

True it's impressive, but helicopter is main focus and could get it deleted, we've all seen pics removed because of a stray seagull, or something on a jetty. Hope it stays, but beware
