By definition, joining of hull sections is NEVER perfect, there are always some discrepancies. The key to successful hull building is to keep those discrepancies within acceptable limits. Section edges are always subject to some additional work, if only to prepare the connection line (welding groove) for welding. The structure of the edges of hull block is also often released to allow for better alignment between structural members.

I wonder if, in the history of shipbuilding, that the joining of a section has never gone well ? I wonder if that bow section will marry up.

Well spotted indeed, MattyBoy. It does look like some sort of hydration station (expect freezer containers & refrigerated water bottles), but no beer... :)

In case of some welding or other work being carried out on deck in sweltering days like we have now in Mokpo, they'd put some sort of light nets over the area.
