Stability impaired by modifications. Cargo overload. Cargo not secured properly. Wrongly ballasted in ballast tanks that were not properly maintained. Capsized.

Thanks for your comments. The story of the "Sewol" has indeed dragged on for too long; while the original plan was to scrap her at this location after the end of the enquiry, new plans actually intend to preserve what is left of her as a monument. But her case is still not considered closed, so there is still some forensic work going on inside of her structure...

Looks like a sensitive scrapping process with family sensitivities in mind and possibly a part section as a shrine to those who hadnt a chance of escaping. Just my opinion.
