This has been reviewed and it is clear enough that ship has legitimately had both names - ATLANTIC during her time under Belize flag, and ATLANTIS before and after that - and the changes appear to have been made deliberately. As neither we nor our usual sources at present know the timings of the owner/flag/name changes we will adopt the simple solution of using the name as painted on the ship (and ATLANTIS where both are clearly shown simultaneously).

I am retitling where necessary to bring images into line with this. All of them are of course permanently linked by the IMO number.

Only if new information emerges do we need to review this again.

Although she has carried the name ATLANTIC, in this shot (and the two previous) she is called ATLANTIS so why doesn't the title should reflect that?

Atlantic or Atlantis, I hear that she is to be refitted for further service.

In this photo she is called ATLANTIS, surly the title should reflect that and not ATLANTIC?

That's right Clive. In all the photos of her from Crete (Kissamos), where she had been for the last two and a half years, we can see that her name was written as ATLANTIC, not only on the bow but also above the bridge. Take a look here (in full screen) : http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=2722190#

In this picture her name is shown as Atlantic www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=3012271#

Under Greek flag she was registered as ATLANTIS from the start. Maybe she was renamed ATLANTIC for a little while before being sold to Greece and the name stayed in equasis after she was sold to Greece in error (just a speculation). She reverted back (or never changed name at all) to ATLANTIS when she came to Greece.

Unofficial name ??? So the registration of the ship as ATLANTIC in equasis.org is wrong ???

ATLANTIC was an unofficial name. She is registered in the Piraeus official registry as ATLANTIS (off. no 12463). She never changed her name officially.

You have right. On ship the written name is ATLANTIS (at bow and stern), in databases (equasis.org) is ATLANTIC.

I can read ATLANTIS in front on a photo of 2019 ,
but she changed name to ATLANTIC in 2016 ?
