US Navy Freedom Class Littoral Combat Ship. Fourth of the Freedom class, and seventh overall. Commissioned in 2016 with a home port Mayport Florida, USA. Class and concept has been the subject of much discussion and arguments.
3900 tons full load, 378 feet long, 57 feet wide, 13 feet draft and top speed of 40 knots.
Multiple armament fits, fitted here with 57mm and 30mm guns, Hellfire missiles, 12.7mm machine guns, and helicopters.
Was in the Norfolk area for test firing and concept proving of the Hellfire vertical missile launcher for use in defeating swarming small boat attacks. See attached you tube link and news information.
Taken from Fort Monroe Hampton VA as she is going east, probably for the test firing area, Yorktown NWS for the missiles, or Little Creek NAB near dusk.
