One of six(?) ships built for PSNCo at the Greenock Dockyard ( owned by Cayzer Irvine/Clan Line) in the early/mid 50s.
I've heard several stories as to why they were built there as the Greenock Dockyard typically only built ships for Clan Line at that time.
Built to the same design as the Clan S class - Shaw , Sinclair etc.
Most obvious difference was the front of what I would call the 'saloon deck' with all those windows ... this seemed to vary between the six. No idea what the interior difference was.
On this ship the D/F loop on the front of the wheelhouse is different to Clan Line practise.
Other major difference is the single 'jumbo' derrick at #2, the Clans had 1 x 80t and 2 x 40 at #2,3, and 4 hatches.
I recall seeing Flamenco in Liverpool in the mid 60's just after she had been renamed Pacific Abeto. Word was she was going on the Hadj.
