Description:
The 1962 Chantiers Maritimes Du Midi of La Seyne-sur-Mer, France built GALLUS I of Soc Azureenne de Tpts & d'Affretements Maritimes, seen in Napoli, Italy sometime between March and July of 1962.
Built likely to replace an earlier GALLUS, she was sold out of the fleet to Alfonso Trofa in 1972, renamed AMALPHIS PRIMA; she seemingly never returned to service. Laid up in Amalfi, Italy, she capsized and sank at her moorings on January 4th, 1979, and was refloated on July 1st, 1983. She arrived at Naples to be scrapped on December 19th, 1983, a sad end to an otherwise immensely obscure but charming little ship.
In the background the 1953 Cantieri del Tirreno SpA of Riva Trigoso, Italy built Liner AGAMEMNON (IMO 5004518) of Olympic Cruises can be seen.
