Built as a gaff schooner for Baltic trade, has often changed her owner and name,originally named "Mathilde", since 1926 "Pacific", since 1930 "H.C.Andersen" and since 1938 "Svanen".
Sailed as a malt cargo vessel for the Tuborg brewery for a long time until 1969. Restored at a Danish yard in the seventies and rigged as a barkentine.
Brought to British Columbia via the West Indies and Panama in 1978 and chartered for a long period by the Royal Canadian Sea Cadets from 1980, (several training trips with officer cadets).
Has participated in many sailing meetings and races, including the Tall Ships Race 1982 from Philadelphia to Portugal;
1986 participated the World Exposition on Transportation and Communicationin in Vancouver;
Sailed the Australian Bicentennial First Fleet Re-Enactment from England to Australia in 1988
Later owned by an Australian businessman and could be chartered for whale watching trips and port tours under the name "Our Svanen".
In about 2009 sold to Capt. Marty Woods, David and Alison Warne, renamed the "Southern Swan", offered for sailing out of Sydney.
