Description:

"Hikawa Maru", at her permanent berth in Yokohama is a museum ship, but this is still an engine room...
These are two 8 cylinder Burmeister & Wain engines, as viewed from the platform along the frame box level. I don't know the engine type, but I'm quite sure they are not electronically controlled... :)

Hi Peter,
thats a very interesting broachure or book that you have uploaded. You would not happen to know where one could buy a copy of this book. its must be a recent publication judging by the Wartsila ad concerning the X range of Engines.
And nice shot again Vlad, keep em coming.

Regards Frank

Jens, as long as Ripley is in her usual alien-fighting attire, I don't mind seeing her in this scenery... :)

Peter, thanks for the booklet, fantastic find!

Cheers

Squeaky clean - looks like you could eat from the floor. Though when I saw the thumbnail first I was expecting Ellen Ripley to come around the corner searching for Jonesy :-))

Very interesting photo, Vlad!

Hi Bob,

Engine info on the link is not correct: these are 8 cylinder engines, not 12 cylinders. As for their manufacturer, the info plates on site state only "B&W of Denmark". Ikegai Ironworks Corp. is mentioned only in relation to her generator engine, as being "one of the few Japan made components".

Cheers

Vlad
