She was withdrawn from service after being hit by a 50mph wind whilst attempting to dock in Oban on the 19th February 2012 , causing damage to her bow visor and gangway. This was the second Calmac vessel in a week to be hit by sudden gusts , as the Caledonian Isles came to grief at Ardrossan on the 14th. MV Isle of Arran was rushed down to the Clyde to take over the Brodick route.
