Vyacheslav Molotov (renamed as "Baltika" in 1957).

Flag: USSR

One of two turbo-electric powered passenger ships
built in 1939-1940 by the Dutch company N.V. Nederlandsche Dok & Scheepsbouw Maats. in Amsterdam.
Was used as the military transport ship VT-509 during the World War Two and was damaged by a mine during it.
She was refitted in 1984 in Denmark and was broken up in 1987.
Photo taken in 1951 on Black Sea; now re-scanned and uploaded in a better quality.

Fascinating to see Baltika in her original colours and name. I travelled with her a few times times in the early seventies from Tilbury to Helsinki. She is sadly missed....

Wonderful picture of this classic liner under her original name, which is very rare. Never knew she had been refitted as late as 1984, but I guess she was doomed after the ADMIRAL NAKHIMOV disaster...
