ship No 234756 / 7146 grt
on 20 / 8 / 1944 she draged her anchor and went aground off Sheerness with 6127 tons of munitions on board half was removed before she broke her back and broke in two with 3173 tons of munitions still on board it is still on board today
all that can be seen of her now
a big bang if it went up

I see some youngster has just paddle-boarded out to the wreck and had photo's taken of himself holding onto one of the posts. Caused quite a stir with the coastguard.

P.S.there is that much sand and silt in every conceivable little hole,what ammunitionis left on board is in one hold, and the detonaters are in another hold,from what i have seen there is little chance of it going BANG, tigercub33

I worked for the port of london as a salvage diver and had to do a survey of the Motgomery on the seaward side the deck was leval with the sea bed, on the sheppy side there was an eightyfoot (80ft)drop, to the sea bed and that was in the mid seventys (70s),so what it is like today is anyones guess tigercub333
