Superb Ken,
This and theother oldies that you have been posting recently remind me why I got interested in ships in the first place. All seemed to have such a unique character, there was much more diversity in design. After looking at a few like this I find what we see today quite uninspiring to say the least. But we still do it, and maybe time will tell to make today's contemporary ships look interesting. Though not in quite the same way I suspect.

Began life as a T2 but in 1956 a new mid-section was built by Harland & Wolff to allow her to carry a greater number of products simultaneously. This 310 foot section was fitted in April 1957. On 3 January 1967 Esso Glasgow suffered explosions followed by a fire while at Fawley and was repaired at Rotterdam. I think the new midships superstructure dates from the H&W built midships section being fitted.
