One of the many "lakers" owned by George P Livanos (Ceres Hellenic Shipping Enterprises Ltd, Piraeus, Greece). Today the company is mainly on the crude tankers and LNG segment, with a few capsize and panama bulkers in the fleet, ran by son Peter G Livanos.

Hi Fred,

On 7 June 1980 the downbound Kalliopi L met the upbound Lake Winnipeg at the Brockville Narrows, St. Lawrence River and although there was no contact the Kalliopi L ran aground and was damaged. Although Kalliopi L completed its trans- Atlantic voyage it required 27 days in dry-dock in Greece to repair the damage. The Lake Winnipeg was held responsible for the incident.

Kind regards, John
