Dear Cornelia

She was arriving at Bluff to load tallow and the photos in this set were taken from the Pilot Boat Takitimu II.

In these conditions I stand just inside the wheelhouse and once in position, the boat stops to reduce the spray, the only down side is we usually roll up to 40 degrees in these conditions.

This type of photography is only possible as the new pilot boat can maintain 20 knots in these conditions so basically any angle is possible. With the old pilot boat the Awarua,we would never have been able to get ahead once the pilot was put onboard because the maximum speed was around 8 knots, esentially the same speed as the ship alongside.
