Well, if I'm not mistaken he played in the same league as Fernão de Magalhães and Jean-François de La Pérouse though all in different centuries, but today all three of them have CMA CGM vessels as namesakes. Though only Vespucci was able to give a whole continent his name (first name, though, not family name.) Or would you prefer to be a Vespuccian rather than an American?:-D
