Never sailed on her but did visit her in 1974. Found her to have lots of open deck space and was quite handsome within but her fleetmate Ocean Monarch witch I visited in the same year felt much more upmarket. A real shock when both were withdrawn shortly thereafter as they were very popular ships in Australia. I believe that issues with industrial relations on both ships were at least as big a factor as the condition of the engines when the decision came to take them out of service.

Indeed, one of the shortest careers ever. She was plagued by mechanical problems. Her much more reliable older sister, SOUTHERN CROSS, meanwhile, sailed on till 2003!

Brgds.

A handsome ship that I wish that I had sailed on.
