Well done Ilhan and David, great information and history, it would seem that the mystery is now solved. Apart from her final resting place!
Good work.

Listed by LR as PILOT-I (IMO 8332526)

She was built in 1945 by Sturgeon Bay Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Corp, Sturgeon Bay WI (Yd 189) as ST 884. Sold 1950 to Turkiye Cumauriteyi Devlet Demiryollari Genel Murdulugu (Turkish State Railways), Istanbul and renamed PILOT 1

The Braveboats site just used an available photo of the type. The now-defunct Marinel website had place-of-build as Sturgeon Bay.

for US navy
sold and renamed to PILOT 1 as Turkish registered and a long time laid up in Tuzla Torlak shipyard
sold and converted to private yatch and renamed to MARINEL 1
but sunk (or has been total lost) after a fire on sept.2010 in Dalaman off the Turkish coast

That was my first thought too Pieter. It certainly has the appearance of a USA built tug.
But that hull shape looks to be older than the accomodation & deckhouse.... do you agree?
I think this will remain a mystery ship for a while yet!

The name, when enhanced, appears to be 'Pilot 1' or 'Pilot 4' but I can find no trace of a suitable vessel.
