Description:
Manchester Ship Canal 250 Ton Crane. This was built in Holland in 1937 but the engines are by Ashworth and Parker of Bury. The big one drives the main DC generators for the Ward Leonard system driving the winding drums. The little one is a disused salvage compressor. Out of sight are a disused domestic lighting set and the independent condensing plant and feed pumps. The boiler is coal-fired. This vessel remains in intermittent use. I have posted in Cranes and Tugnut also has pictures on the site.
