Steve Geronazzo:
I see that you are 42 years old. I am 23 years older than you. Therefore, before you were born, I was putting my camera away and saying "Oh, no, not that one again!" when I saw the Swedish open-hatcher HOLMSUND approaching. That was because I had already photographed it umpteen times before.
Now, 44 years after I first photographed her, the old HOLMSUND keeps popping up on this site as the KATHRYN SPIRIT.
Nowadays these new SCA ships (Svenska Cellulosa AB - Swedish Cellulose Co Ltd) forest products (paper) carriers turn up here (I live by the Thames) - and at many European ports - about twice a week. So some of we European shipspotters are perhaps a little bit bored with them already! Just as we used to be with HOLMSUND/KATHRYN SPIRIT and her sisters.
Phil English, John Jones and I all know each other personally. I am guessing that you are Quebecois and that you perhaps do not understand the British sense of humour. I did not mean to cause any international incident or offence with my comment maybe suggesting that the KATHRYN SPIRIT should take herself off to the scrapyard to where she should long-ago have been consigned.
In the meantime, I thoroughly agree that Jonesy's photo of OBBOLA is a very good one.
My advice to you would be that if you want to be an Admin on this international site, you need to think a bit more-internationally. Maybe so should, too, I when making comments to my fellow countrymen.
Sorry if I seem paternising to you but no offence was meant to anyone.
Regards
Bob Scott

Bob Scott... I sent you a PM concerning your last comment.

On a more positive note I have to say that I like the photo of this ship! Good job John!

Phil,
I was earlier going to comment that you were beginning to sound a bit like Mr DOT but thought I'd better not because, it seems, I have been branded as Bob "Caustic" Scott. (Can you understand why?)
Notwithstanding that, I do so hope that viewers of this site in 40 years' time will not still be having to put-up with pics of this ship and/or her sisters like we old people , in 2011, are still having to view endless pics from Canada of at least two of those predecessors from way-back that we used to say 40 years ago "Oh, no, not that one again!"
In the meantime, I, as a throughly modern 'old git' am totally with Jonesy and what he said!
Cheers
Bob C Scott

Phil, not a patch in the aesthetic department but we must admit these are probably 10 times better in terms of technical design, things have moved on.

Nice ships but not a patch on the old Munksund / Holmsund / Tunadal which they ultimately replaced, John?

Thanks Ria,
This one and her sisters are very regular on the Thames, I see one every Saturday if I get out!

Nice view at the Obbola John. Fine photo! I often see her sailing along here, but can never take a shot in this way.
Kind regards, Ria
