Not quite a war standard, Brighton was the last of seven sisters built by Short Brothers for Chapman and Willan between 1957 and 1960. In February 1961 she stood by the Shaw Savill liner Runic after she was wrecked on Middleton Reef. As Despoula K she was herself wrecked north of Monrovia after breaking adrift in heavy weather while under tow from Monrovia to Yugoslavia where she was to be broken up.
