Thanks for the information Neale, very interesting. I like the bit about the Greek B also being a V.

Regards

Bob

The ship was bought 7/2008 with this site showing K & D Kyriakopoulos SA of Eleusia, Greece [Lloyds say formed 1999] as owners and Powdermill Navigation Inc [same address and formed 2003] as managers. Equasis shows the registered owner as Perseus Maritime Inc.c/- managers Powdermill.

This is one of the Greek layered jobs I would say. Perseus Maritime Inc. are just a name company. Managers and or agents are Powdermill who are owned by Kyriakopoulos no doubt, although Lloyds Shipping Groups gave them as being agents for Powdermill but when they are all given the same address I have doubts that they are not one and the same - just layers of safeguard etc.

The ship has been chartered since they got it. Originally to Unity Chartering (UCS) B.V. of Papendrect. "Unity" is on the hull in early photos but it is not their funnel as Ken Smith captured that on "Nathalie" 28.4.2008. UCS later was apparently taken over, or otherwise absorbed [their web address redirects to Vertom] by Vertom Scheepvaart en Handelsmaatschappij BV of DR Rhoon who go back to 1974 according to Lloyds[their website is http://www.vertom.nl and they list the ship but their logo is again something else) and now "Vertom" is plastered on the hull.

During all this chartering the photos show that the funnel has been the same as it now.

So my thought is that the "B" stands for the ultimate owner i.e. either the one behind Kyriakopoulos or, if they are in fact just simple agents [a miracle in the web of Greek shipping], then the one who put up the money to buy the ship.

Who he may be heaven knows. I cannot find any leads.

And to add a bit more to the pot. The Greek "B" also covers names starting in "V" in English and the only "V" around is Vertom
