Description:

CONSTANTINOS, the former KARAGHISTAN of Strick Line, built by Readhead at South Shields in 1957 and sold to the London Greek owner Christos Contoyannis in May 1973, was photographed on 10th August 1974 entering the Royal Edward lock at Avonmouth outbound for Alexandria with a cargo of milk powder.

Renamed ADMIRAL C. in 1977, she sadly suffered steering failure during heavy weather on 13th September 1978 on a voyage from Antwerp to Jeddah, grounded and later sank.

Hi Malcolm,
Nice to see this. I've got a picture of her as the Karaghistan anchored in the Shatt Al Arab back in early 1965. It was already in the queue to be uploaded but I'll bump it up the list.

We loaded oil for Durban and on the way down were in touch with the Karaghistan. She was heading to Durban for an inspection after running aground up the gulf.
