World Ship Society’s Marine News December 2004 Vol. 58 No.12: “KAIWO MARU 2,238/30 – sail training vessel owned by Hansen Kaio Maru Kinen Zaidan Japan. Grounded 21/10/2004 on a breakwater at Toyama during typhoon “ Tokage” and some 167 people including 102 trainees were evacuated.”
World Ship Society’s Marine News January 2005 Vol. 59 No.1: “It has been reported she will be out of service for some time and the 2006 sailing schedule has been cancelled.”
