Hi everybody!!
Also ... on the other photo (ship with her bow high ashore) can be seen ANOTHER pipe, a thick transverse pipe almost at the top of the bulb!!??
What a puzzle, my God ...........can somebody comment?

I think a transverse tube has moving flaps on both ends.

Anyhow, everything is being so strange on this photo of the ship's bulb!
The top of the bulb is not closed with steel plating, therefore, the bulb internal frames can be seen .... the bow thruster tunnel is closed with some improvised steel plate .... etc .... etc !!??

The bow thruster tunnel (it looks like a 'transverse pipe') can be well seen at the end of the cylindrical bulb, just in front of the original ship's stem.
The bulb & bow thruster were built onto the ship additionally!

Looks that way to me Denis: There is a clear grille on the inlet & two side outlets, no doubt some form of rudder within which deflects the discharge either side, as required. But as noted, it looks like an afterthought.

So according to the above image the bulb is like an inlet for the water?

So, it's a strap-on, bow-thruster. Mmmmm. Always was a bit of a dark horse, that Marie.

Frans
looks to be that way, also when the very same sign which you mention nowadays is also shown in the area of a sternthrusters, therefore the sign does not mean really that the bowthruster is in the bulbous bow but only in the bow section

Hi Denis,

Suspect that the bowthruster is build in the bulb.
Today indicated by the sign with screw with a circle around it.

What's a "STAPROP BULB" or whatever is written inside the bulbous bow sign on http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=1681241 ?

Adrain

Edit

person
Ok Adrian
