Majestic class aircraft carrier. Built by Vickers-Armstrongs and launched in 1945 as HMS Majestic. Commissiond HMAS Melbourne in 1955. 214 mtrs x 24.38 mtrs 20,000 tons. Decommissioned 1982 and sold to China in 1985. Studied by China as part of a plan to develop an aircraft carrier, and train aviators.
