It all makes sense - but it is not widely done in this way, I think. Do other operators achieve the same object, but mark the manifolds in a different way?

They mark it that way for indentification when they bring the discharging connections,,this way it is easier when they disharge/load different cargoes,, part of the verification process to make sure the shore guys and the ships crew are on one ticket beside some other safety measures before actual disch/load is started

Have never sailed on tankers,but assume ships staff couple up.
Appears to be a schematic of the manifold as you say,maybe enables the shoreside establishment to double check the hose is on the right manifold.

The midships "dominos" are odd. But magnified, the dots look like a schematic of the valves/manifolds. The hull seems to be peppered with instructions!
