A fact is that brasilian vessels did not have longevity, for what reasons one can discuss
USA has most probably, beside inland tugs and pusher tugs no idea how to build ships. And China is still today 60-80 low quality junk.

It was a nightmare for private domestic owners and shipyards to work in the economic and political chaos (and corruption) of 1980s Brazil. The state-owned Lloyd Brasileiro was a basket case, but Aliança was probably the best of the private companies. I suspect that FLAMENGO was a casualty of the containerisation of the main Brazilian trades in the 1980s. Plenty of half-life break-bulk cargo liners went to early scrapping in that era.
By the mid 1990s it was difficult for small liner companies anywhere to afford the investment needed for deep sea container service and it was only in 1998 that Oetker bought the company from Grupo Fischer, primarily for access to Brazilian coastal trades.

Alianca went also bust,,is since years only a subsidy from H-Sued. when H-Sued bought it, they had a requirement that they had to keep some ships brazilian flags and Alianca as
manager in order to keep the whole gov-alianca business

well, Brazil built is probably not the best reputation for longevity, ... but the owner did not bust, - Aliança is still existing. See here: full power.

thanks, but I believe she was not a very lucky ship. Built 1971 and already scrapped in 1986 in China. 15 years was no age for a ship in these days.
