In april 1974 Northern Star made following cruise with among many others an uncle of mine: Sydney-Auckland-Rarotonga-Papeete-Acapulco-Balboa-Cristobal-Curacao-Port of Spain-Barbados-Southampton, a total of 13633 nautical miles.

Southern Cross lasted from 1955 until 2004 when she was scrapped at Chittagong.

Yes Mr Dot, a real short life for passenger ship, 13 years I think, I will have to check how long the Southern Cross lasted, I hope it was longer.

It doesn't seem that many years ago I was looking at a new vessel description of this vessel in the 'shipbuilder' and only a few years later reading of her early disposal! mrdot.
