Thanks, I really lucked out, I wasn't even expecting her to be there that day.
As far as I know, she was built for the role she fills. She's actually the lead ship of a class containing NOAA's RONALD H. BROWN, Scripp's ROGER REVELLE, and Wood's Hole's ATLANTIS.

That,s the reason why she does not look like a research vessel? build for the Navy for a different purpose or was she there also in the research business ?
