1973 collision & fire with anchored tanker Esso Brussels north of the Verrazano narrows due to steering failure of Sea Witch; burned out hulk towed to Brooklyn Navy Yard for rebuilding by Seatrain Shipbuilding, but remained laid up damaged until 1983
1983 stern and mechanicals finally used in construction of chemical carrier Chemical Pioneer (by?)
