Looking at this brandnew Evergreen-Ship, I wonder how much time has gone since I've seen the old Ever Level on the river Elbe. Seems I've become very old... :-(

Very glad to see Evergreen's new ship building in CSBC Kao-hsiung Taiwan.

@ ozzy76, rd77 and Al Ruff: these structures on deck are either cellguides or at least lashing platforms like in similar container vessels. There would be no need of such large amount of structures that are spread completely from fore to aft, to acommodate several hundred reefer containers.

Stefan

"Ever Living", is that the same thing as "Undead"? My personal favorite was "Ever Loading" which, apparently, never discharges any of her cargo.

RD77 is correct. Those are not cell guides, they are lashing platforms. Apart from providing a place from which to check the temperatures of the reefer containers, they provide a place to lash the containers down with lashing bars. When the containers are unlashed in port, the lashing bars are stowed on the platforms.

Al Ruff..No it only carries about 600 - 1000 reefers at most..I think the new Maersk triple E's carry about 600 reefers out of a nominal capacity of 18,000
TEU...it would require too much electrical power i.e more diesel generators and fuel to be burned. otherwise...

Would this ship only transport reefers? Or would they dismantel the reefer plug ins when carrying regular containers? Just curious.

Cheers rd77...Thanks for the update. It's good to know people who have first hand experience. Regards. Oz

Ozzy: don't think those are cellguides. Been aboard a few container ships and I think those structures contain the reefer plugs and allow the crew to check and maintain the reefer containers.
