Built 1978 by A/S Nakskov Skibsvaerft for A/S Det Ostasiatiske Kompagni (EAC Lines), Denmark. 16150grt. Sister ships were SAMOA, SIENA, SIMBA & SINALOA. Similar ships SONGKHLA & SUMBAWA came from Mitsui, Japan. These ships comprised their owner's second "S" class and sailed for some years on a service between Western Australia and the North American west coast via south east Asia and the Pacific. Later they were joined by JOHN BAKKE and MARIE BAKKE from Knut Knutsen OAS,, who had originated the service.
