Built in 1874 by Bartram & Haswell, Sunderland UK, as CLAN McLEOD.
Sold to J.J. Craig, Auckland, New Zealand in 1900 and registered as JAMES CRAIG in 1905, O.N. 68086. After a period on the Trans-Tasman trade she was hulked in Port Moresby, New Guinea.
After World War I she was put back into seagoing order and returned to the Trans-Tasman trade. During this time Allan Villiers was a member of her crew. She was hulked again in Tasmania in 1925 and abandoned in 1932.
Her restoration began in 1972 in Hobart and was completed in 2001 by which time she was home ported in Sydney.
