Hi Sandygates,some of my friends have cruised on these German ships and let me tell you that they did not have any trouble conversing in the English language which to us Maltese is the second language,practically everyone here in Malta is conversant in this language.My friends do not know german ,yet they did not experience any difficulty on the MEIN SCHIFFs.They were all praise for the crew, cuisine ,accommodation ,safety standard etc. .Well geerman efficiency at its best.

Emmanuel: if you don't understand the German language, maybe you should choose another line that uses one you do understand. I regularly cruise with one where only English is used, which means nearly all my travelling companions are Brits, with a small smattering of Dutch and Scandinavians.
I can fully empathise with German cruise passengers who want to hear only their own language on their holiday.
I think the graffiti on the ship is a bit of fun though some the slogans used are somewhat "corny"!

Thank you Peter for the additional information .Both MEIN SHIFF 1 and 2 are regular visitors to Malta every Sunday docking very early in the morning before sun up and picking up mostly German passengers who fly over to Malta embark on the ship and depart very late at night.Many Maltese have taken these Malta to Malta cruises finding every satisfaction on these typical German efficiency.I shall try to undertake a cruise on one of these faboulous cruise liners in the future (if any improvement to my health is forthcoming)

Hi Jadran, no sir .that prize is not for me , I rather spend the rest of my life quietly and peacefully away from any limelight, surrounded by my small family and friends in my native land ;Malta.

Hi Emmanuel,, Re: your below last 2 comments,, You deserve the Nobel Prize Award for the best well writing done!

Thanks Sandygates for the translation ,Cornelia should be proud of you and rightly so.MEIN SCHIFF 3 will also be registered in Malta with her home port in Valletta harbour.Thousands of Germansare taking cruises which start and terminate in Malta every Sunday,hope to see you on one of these wonderful Eastern or Western Mediterannean cruises Cornelia and all the German shipspotters/photographers of this website.

Well Cornelia, I don't think that anyone is deriding the German language, it is just that the international language for communications is English.I admire the German people ,their culture, Germany is a wonderful country and a leader in Europe, but alas I don't understand German and at my age it is now a bit late to learn another language.German is taught in schools here in Malta.Be proud of your heritage,your language,your country wherever you wher born.Malta is just a small Island Nation with just about 400,000 inhabitants and I am proud to be Maltese.After all we are all part of the human race.

Interesting discussion, apart from whether you like or not like graphics on a ship, I like these because they are German ! Why does everything have to be in English, TUI is aiming to German tourists ? :)

Edit
comment

person
The ones I can make out on the photo are:
Sternenhimmel = Starry Sky;
Mein Schiff = My Ship
Wohlfühlen = feeling good
Traumstrände = dream beaches
Fahrtwind = airstream
There are more and a whole different selection in the same vein (including Gastfreundschaft = hospitality) on the other side

Maybe our German shipspotters friends will enlighten us to what the German words means.I presume that they are in connection with the sea,cruising etc.

Edit
comment

person
Looks more like a celebrities ship to me, as in those celebrities leaving behind their signatures after visiting. Haha....

Edit
comment

person
True, I surfed marine traffic from Greece to Portugal!
Maybe some members from America, Asia and Africa can provide more info about the names Of companies!

Cheers

Edit
comment

person
Mark,these are all European sea companies, there must be more and more in the far east and South America as these regions all love colour.

Hi, Emmanuel,
I'm pretty much sure that ChasB46 was referring to colorful hulls, not graphics!

Cheers

Edit
comment

person
No ChasB46 I was only referring to the words graffiti on the MEIN SHIFFs, the Aida ships are different "graffiti",I know them well as they are visitors to our Island nation harbour, I heve posted several pictures of these Aida ships.

Edit
comment

person
You are right , that didn't caught my eye!
Sorry, add aida fleet to list of colorful ships :D

Cheers

Edit
comment

person
Mark T & Emmanuel L ,think you have missed the Aida fleet. Aida blu etc. Lipsmacking good??

Edit
comment

person
Emmanuel, except for Mein schiff 1, 2 norwegians (norwegian epic.....) there are no cruise ships with so colorful hulls.
Else have boring white, black or blue hulls!

Cheers

Edit
comment

person
Well at least they are something different from the usual all white hull on most cruise liners.

Edit
comment

person
Well said, Mark T. Good to see at last on this site a "Lightened-up" approach to these modern-day marketing moves

Edit
comment

person
Well, for passengers who are not interested in ships or maritime traffic these graphics are quite nice, and cordial too!
Nice shot!

Cheers
