Actually, Bob, you got me wondering...since I don't usually invent words / phrases, I had to check how I came up with that "split house" expression. Well, I took it from a checklist for safety equipment items from the flag XXX, which is supposed to be in English, anyway.

So now I know that it's maybe not so English...:)

Sounds like the captain and the chief engineer are soon having their own respective "kingdom" onboard. Hahaha....

:-) at Jadran's remark! And soon they will be as ubiquitous as the 'split house' vessels are now... But, more good work Vlad, otherwise we would have missed so much of the building processes; so a big thank you from me.

DSME is certainly one of the busiest yards and will be for the foreseable future as the have won $3bn worth of new orders so far this year.

Jadran, so true...:)

As for DSME shipyard, they were surely the first to produce the Triple Es (and the first to produce "split-house" 13-14.000 TEU vessels), and are in the same league with HHI and Samsung, making "the big three"...

Surely the shipyard in Okpo on Geoje Island, must now rate as one of the busiest in the world, what with the amount of these type of monsters being built.
