Launched on 29.11.1960 as "CHARLES L.D." for Louis Dreyfus & Cie., Dunkerque.
Renamed during fitting out into "FRANCOIS L.D."an completed on 31.07.1961. Cargo winches: 16. Cargo gear: 1x 25ton SWL heavy lift "Jumbo", 8x 10ton SWL, 8x 5ton SWL, 1x 1.5ton SWL derricks. Call sign: ????.
Acquired on 01.09.1961 by Bernina Hochsee-Schiffahrts A.G., Chur (Management: Suisse-Outremer S.A. de Gérance et d'Affretement Maritimes, Genève), Bâle and renamed "RHONE". Call sign: HBDO.
Collided on 10.05.1963 in the Elbe-Jade-Way, near the buoy J/E12, in fog with the West German coaster "Nordenham" (662/56), which sank. Her crew was saved. The coaster was on a voyage from Riga to Bremen with coal.
01.09.1963 mangement restyled to Suisse-Outremer Bereederungs- und Befrachtungs A.G., Zürich.
On the 15.05.1964 the "RHONE" went aground on a voyage from Rio Grande do Sul to Porto Alegre five miles away from that port. She was refloated on 27.05.1964.
Sold on 11.01.1967 to Compagnie de Navigation d'Orbigny (C.N.O.) Rouen, and renamed "ABLON". GRT: 6451, NRT: 3555, DWT: 10'157. Official no: Call sign: FNTL.
1979 sold to Dart Shipping Co. Inc. (Management: International Maritime Carriers Ltd., Hong Kong), Panama. New name: "MARITIME OPTIMUM". GRT: 6087, NRT: 3392, DWT: 10'320. Official No: ? Call sign: 3ECQ.
1982 sold to Thai International Maritime Enerprises Ltd., Bangkok. Not renamed. GRT: 6185, NRT: 3347, DWT: 10'320. Official No: Call sign: HSCB.
Arrived on 27.04.1984 at Huangpu, China, to be broken up by China National Metals & Minerals Imports.
