Spain has no other ships than the Baleares (mod Knox) using neither the 5 inch mk 42 gun nor the Ascroc box launcher, that's probably the simple reason. The mk 42 was realy not a success to heavy and complicated, unreliable until reducing it's rate of fire... which actually was why it was designed (just before missiles arrived). Regards Göran

I'm rather amazed that the 'A' gun and the missile launcher at fwd area were left there. As a usual practice, these armed systems are removed from the ships if de-commissioned, and kept under storage as stand-by spares due to that these equipments are rather sensitive and expensive.
