Description:

THOMSON CELEBRATION leaving Hamburg for Tenerife (according to her AIS-signal) after aprrox. four weeks in Blohm & Voss dry dock, seen from Rüschpark, 13.12.2013

While I am writing this she's passing Stade on the river Elbe. She left Hamburg under assistance of tugs Bugsier 21 and Bugsier 9 and is still being assisted by them. She's traveling at 5 to 7 knots.

Can anyone tell why she has tug assistance all the way down the Elbe?

May be they had still technicans aboard from the start to fix the last "problems" and finished it off outside/on the way out. then anchoring and get the techs off.

Hi Jürgen, yes, seems they spent the night at Outer Elbe Anchorage to fix it. Must have been a minor problem then.

All the best from Hamburg down south,
Jens

Morning Jens,

seems that they have the engine problems resolved then. Lets wish them a Bon Voyage!

Thanks, ventuari. I don't know why she spent the night in the German Bight. Right now she's traveling westward at 19 knots, destination still says Tenerife...

Some update, Pica. I just had a look at her current position. She's doing 1 to 2 knots south-east of Helgoland. The tugs have escorted her there and are now heading back for Cuxhaven...

Marinko, thanks a lot for your nice comment:-)

Hi Pica, there was a fire onboard??? I missed this news completely. But as you say, since you spotted those marks up forward last Sunday, this shouldn't have affected her propulsion and I guess she wouldn't have left today if there had been a serious damage. And as I wrote in the description box, her AIS gave Tenerife as destination...

Cheers, Jens

Hello Jens,

she had fire onboard last week as to the newspaper (HA) but without any details. What I could see sunday afternoon from the harbour ferry there were black marks on some windows/superstructure on stb. side fwd saloon?? area.
No idea how this could have affected her propulsion.
