Description:

The former AKARNANIA-86, LONDON BOMBARDIER-79 (ordered as LONDON CARABINIER) built by A&P in 1972

anchored in Pireaus Roads in September 1987 following a collision while on voyage from Dunkirk (July 23rd) to the west coast of India. Following repairs, she passed through the Suez Canal on 20th November 1987.

Later: 1995 IOANNIS I - Scrapped Alang 10.4.97

Hello Malcolm. Thank you for posting another great photo of a marine casualty. If you learn the name of the other ship involved in the collision, will you please add it to your post? I have checked Marine News up to February 1988, but cannot find any reference to the Jute Express. Regards, Warwick Foote.
