Two of the very best shots I've ever seen of this ship and her sister (PRINS DER NEDERLANDEN). I do always think that they looked rather tall and narrow from some angles, but not on this shot!
KNSM had great ships anyway. Check out their freighter MERCURIUS which was on the Suriname trade: http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=599437

An extraordinarily pretty ship.
From Southampton to the West Indies and back, just the most perfect ship upon which to undertake such a trip - and would one actually need a balcony cabin, climbing wall, show lounge and a variety of different dining venues....?

Trygve, she usually operated on the Netherlands to West Indies route, usually via Southampton both outward and homeward. Glad you like her.

Wow! This reminds me of what I call a real ship-looking ship.

Which routes/lines did this ship made service in, during the years 1957 - 1973?

I also must say LOVELY !!!
At home I have a model of this indeed beautiful *classic* passenger/cargo ship.
It's a waterline model of length 25 cm (10") placed in a glass case,, the model was provided by the Shipping company (from Netherlands) for its marketing purposes.
My father received that model and immediately gifted to me,, I remember,, that was in 1962.
Kind regards
Jadran
