Description:
Washington State Ferry Super-class vessel running the San Juan Inter-island route seen approaching the pier at the north end of Lopez Island.
The ELWHA is perhaps best known for an incident in 1983 when, while showing a passenger what her house looked like from the water, the captain opened the hull up on an uncharted rock. For years afterward, one could order an "Elwha on the Rocks" at several local bars.
