Last of the line of SOFYA Class tankers, the VORRAS was delivered in 1971 as HASSI MESSAOUD to CN Algerienne de Navigation. The Baltic shipyard made another hull of the same dimensions and with the same Kirov steamturbines but that became the research ship KOSMONAUT YURIY GAGARIN (Imo 7116286)

CNAN sold the ship in 1980 to Greeks and as VORRAS she struggled on for another six years, when she caught fire at Piraeus while in lay-up. Two years later an end came to her life at the Aliaga beach.
