Yvon found a missing link! No doubt she is Mexican Navy vessel PROGRESO. As a naval vessel she couldn’t be traced in Lloyd’s Register books. Rgds

This one is a real puzzle. If the 1935 year is right, I can find no PROGRESO, EL PROGRESO, or indeed PROGRESS that matches. But the caption is very specific "Panorama taken from the 2nd leading light tower. El Progreso aground in front of the Capitania [port captain's office] of Puerto Vallarta, Jal[Jalisco province]". The place is right - the square with the little striped tower (I think that it's the lower leading light) can be seen in a couple of the photos at http://virtualvallarta.com/puertovallarta/read/Puerto-Vallarta-History.shtml

Anyone near to Guildhall Library in London to check the Lloyd's List casualty reports?
Perhaps worth trying this one on "Need a Ship Identified?" on Ships Nostalgia - I can do that if you agree, adenanthos.
